Paintings: Landscapes

The landscape of the American Midwest is simple, peaceful, and nourishing. The basics of field, forest, and sky are rich and elemental. Rather than portraying the realism of a country scene, he pursues the experiential in expression. A sense of unity with grain, sky, wind, and color as companions.

When I find a composition that I want to paint - it's more like it finds me. All of a sudden I am in the middle of a place, and experience light, beauty and energy that says, "Look at me; I am life. Look at me and feel this." How sweet those moments of discovery are. They bring with them a sense of completeness and belonging - and a connectedness to our time and place."
